Equipment

I do not work with the following during training sessions or consultations:
Flexi-leads or other types of extending leads
Rolled, prong, chain, spray collars
Slip leads or very short leads

I recommend the use of a harness, which is the most comfortable option for your dog.

Referral

In the eventuality that I feel it is necessary to refer your case on further to another behaviour consultant or veterinary behaviourist, I will direct you where possible to suitable consultants. If this occurs prior to consultation work taking place (following a discovery call and the completion of a questionnaire), no charge will take place. If this occurs during a programme, you will only be charged for the sessions that have already taken place, and the balance will be refunded to you.

For behaviour consultations I m
ay ask that your dog is seen by a vet/ or a dynamic dog pratitioner to ensure that pain or illness is not contributing to your dog’s behaviour.

Behaviour modification

While I am here to support you and your dog overcome the behaviour in question, I do not offer guarantees when it comes to the success or outcome of behaviour modification protocols.

By working with me, you confirm you understand that participation in dog training and behaviour modification may pose some risk to you, members of your family, your dog, other animals in the home, on walks, or visiting guests. You assume the risk of any damage or injury incurred in the training/ behaviour modification process.  You agree to minimise the risk by disclosing in full any danger or sensitivities your dog presents with, including any past behavioural history you are aware of. You will immediately inform me of any situations that may provoke aggression in your dog, and are responsible for avoiding or preventing those situations.

You agree that yourself and other family members including any minors, attending a consultation waive, release and agree to hold harmless Finding Joy Behaviour and Training, and Greta Inglis from causes of actions, claims, demands, losses, injuries and damages which may be sustained by you or your dog in connection with the consultation and any follow up protocols. You understand that you shall be responsible for and indemnify Finding Joy Behaviour and Training and Greta Inglis from and against all claims, damages, costs and liabilities in respect of any loss, damage or personal injury sustained by you or any third party which is directly or indirectly caused by your dog.

Your dog will require time and consistency from their guardians. Long-lasting, compassionate behaviour modification is not a “quick fix”, and compassion and patience from every member of the family is essential.
